Ingredients:
For the Apple Mixture:
- 10 C Granny Smith apples peeled – cored and sliced
- 1 C brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
For the Crisp Mixture:
- 2 C quick-cooking oats
- 2 C flour
- 2 C brown sugar – firmly packed
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 C (2 sticks) butter – cubed while cold
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Grease a 13″ x 9″ x 2″ pan with non-stick cooking spray
Make the Apple Mixture::
- Place sliced apples in a bowl
- Add brown sugar, flour and cinnamon
- Stir gently and make sure every piece of apple is covered in the sugar mixture – set aside
Make the Crisp Mixture:
- Combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder and baking soda together
- Add in the cubed butter and use your hands to combine – you want the butter to be pea-sized and coated entirely – you should have 6 C
- Spread 3 C over the bottom of your prepared pan and press flat
- Pour the apple mixture over top and press down with rubber spatula
- Pour remaining crisp mixture over top of the apples
- Bake uncovered for 35 – 45 minutes until golden brown
