*This recipe requires a mini muffin pan


For the Mini Muffins:

  • 3/4 C sugar
  • 1 stick (1/2 C) butter – melted
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 C milk
  • 1-1/2 C flour
  • pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1-1/2 tsp baking powder

For the Topping/Coating:

  • 1 stick (1/2 C) butter – melted
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 1-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Spray mini muffin tin with non-stick spray
  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, sugar and vanilla – mix until smooth
  4. Pour in milk and set aside – DO NOT MIX
  5. In a medium size bowl, mix the remaining dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cream of tartar and nutmeg)
  6. Pour your dry ingredients over the butter/sugar/vanilla/milk mixture
  7. Mix until just blended
  8. Using a spoon or a scooper, fill each muffin 3/4 full
  9. Place in oven on middle rack and bake 18-20 minutes, until lightly golden brown
  10. Remove from oven
  11. Make the topping/coating by melting the butter in a small bowl
  12. In another small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together
  13. Take each donut muffin, while they are still warm (but not too hot) and dip them completely in melted butter and roll them in cinnamon sugar mixture
  14. Place on wax paper to cool
  15. Serve warm or at room temperature
