Ingredients:
- 6 sweet potatoes (about 7 C measured) – peeled and diced
- 1/2 C (1 stick) butter
- 1/4 C water or apple juice
- 1/2 C maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
Directions:
- Place a slow cooker liner bag in your crockpot (*see Notes below)
- Add the peeled and diced sweet potatoes to the crockpot
- Slice the butter and place on top
- Pour in the water or apple juice
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours – DO NOT OPEN the lid during the cooking time
- When the cooking time is done, add the maple syrup, heavy cream, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt
- Using an electric mixer, beat until smooth OR use a potato masher and mash by hand
Notes:
- Serve with additional butter if desired or transfer to a large baking dish, add mini marshmallows and broil until browned
- For easy clean up, I always use a slow cooker liner bag – make sure if you use a slow cooker liner bag, that you buy the specific liner bag that is made for Slow Cookers, DO NOT use anything else or it will melt and ruin your food!
