Ingredients:

  • 3 C shredded coconut
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 2/3 C sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 egg whites – stiffly beaten
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 (12 oz) bag dark chocolate chips – melted

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a medium bowl, combine coconut, almond extract and salt
  3. Mix in condensed milk to form a thick paste
  4. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form
  5. Gently fold egg white mixture into coconut mixture
  6. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart
  7. Bake at 350 for about 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned
  8. Dip 1/2 of the cooked & cooled macaroon into melted dark chocolate
