Ingredients:
- 3 C shredded coconut
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 2/3 C sweetened condensed milk
- 2 egg whites – stiffly beaten
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 (12 oz) bag dark chocolate chips – melted
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a medium bowl, combine coconut, almond extract and salt
- Mix in condensed milk to form a thick paste
- Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form
- Gently fold egg white mixture into coconut mixture
- Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart
- Bake at 350 for about 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned
- Dip 1/2 of the cooked & cooled macaroon into melted dark chocolate
