Ingredients:

For the Cookies:

  • 1 stick (1/2 C) unsalted butter – softened to room temperature 
  • 2 C sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2/3 C sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 4 C flour

For the Frosting:

  • 1 stick (1/2 C) unsalted butter – softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 C sour cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 C powdered sugar
  • Sprinkles or sugar crystals for decorating

Directions:

Make the Cookies:

  1. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper – set aside
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  3. With a mixer beat butter and sugar until creamy
  4. Add eggs, vanilla and sour cream, beat until smooth
  5. Add in baking soda, baking powder and flour, beat on low until incorporated – dough will be really soft, almost like a cake batter
  6. Drop onto prepared cookie sheets by heaping teaspoons 2-3 inches apart
  7. Bake for 8-10 mins or until edges are golden and centers are set
  8. Cool on a wire rack 

Make the Frosting:

  1. Beat the butter until creamy
  2. Stir in sour cream and vanilla
  3. Add powdered sugar gradually, beat until smooth
  4. Frost and Sprinkle with sprinkles or sugar crystals
