*You will need a 6 count donut pan to make this recipe

Ingredients:

For the Donut Batter:

  • 3/4 C flour
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/3 C sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/3 C buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla

For the Topping:

  • 3 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 C sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon (mixed together)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Grease a 6 count donut pan with non-stick spray 
  3. Whisk together flour, cornstarch, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a mixing bowl
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla
  5. Add to the dry mixture to the wet mixture and stir just until combined – do not over mix!
  6. Spoon batter into a ziplock bag and snip off the corner
  7. Squeeze the batter evenly into the six donut wells, so the donuts will bake evenly
  8. Bake at 375 degrees for 11-12 minutes – check at 10 minutes
  9. Let cool for a couple minutes, then remove to cooling racks
  10. While still warm, brush all sides of each donut with melted butter
  11. Dip in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated
