Ingredients:

  • 1 lb bag dried pinto beans
  • 1 onion – chopped
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

Directions:

  1. Rinse beans then soak in water (enough to cover the beans, plus 1″) for 3 hours
  2. Boil beans until tender
  3. Fry the ground beef and onion until browned – drain, reserving 2 Tbsp grease  
  4. Add the cumin, salt & pepper
  5. Add the beef  mixture and reserved grease to the beans – mix well
  6. On high heat, bring to a boil
  7. Lower heat to medium-low and allow to simmer/cook for 30 minutes

  1. When I was a kid, my mom used to make this in a Mexican Clay Pot, until I broke the lid – oops!   I love you mom!
