Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion – chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic – minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (16 oz each) red kidney beans – drained
  • 1/3 C chili powder* (see notes)
  • 1 tsp cumin* (see notes)
  • 1 tsp salt* (see notes)
  • 1 tsp pepper

Directions:

  1. In a large pot over medium-high heat, cook beef, onion and garlic for 8-10 minutes, or until no pink remains in the beef
  2. Drain off excess liquid – discard
  3. Add remaining ingredients
  4. Mix well
  5. Cover and reduce heat to low
  6. Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally

Notes:

  1. Serve topped with sour cream and shredded cheese
  2. You can substitute the chili powder, cumin & salt (still add the pepper) with 1 pkg of Dry Chili Seasoning Mix – I use Lawry’s Brand
